The DC Charter of High Technology Crime Investigation Association (HTCIA) is designed to encourage, promote, aid and effect the voluntary interchange of data, information, experience, ideas and knowledge about methods, processes, and techniques relating to investigations and security in advanced technologies among its membership.
Defiance College students in the Digital Forensic Science major are required to gain experience in the field during their senior year. This Field Experience (which we loosely call an “internship”) allows a student to observe professionals at work and to apply his/her own forensics skills for a minimum of 120 hours. It has been our experience that both the student and the host agency benefits greatly from this process. There is no expectation of paying the student for the internship. Some agencies do, but that is to satisfy their internal procedures and does not affect the curriculum requirement.
