![]() Host to the 2006 HTCIA International Training Conference and Expo Latest News May 27th General Meeting Overview We would like to thank those who took time off from work to attend our general meeting on Wednesday, May 27th. There were also 5 students and 2 guests present at the meeting. We now have 15 student members in our chapter with Stark State forming a student chapter. During the meeting we discussed the cancellation of our Spring Training Conference and what type of training we want to now try and offer our members. A training committee was formed. We reviewed the membership requirements and HTCIA Code of Ethics and Core Values. There were also two great presentations, one on Mortgage Fraud by our own John Chime. Mitch Machor then presented on the redesigned iLook PI. A drawing for a free 3 day training session on interviewing and interrogation from John E. Reid and Associates was held. Congratulations to Jeff Miller on winning. Look for meeting minutes in your inbox shortly. 2008 Spring Regional Conference a Success The spring regional conference held May 12-14 at Lakeland Community College received positive reports from members as well as those who attended from as far away as Switzerland. With a nice blend of national and regional presenters and vendors, the conference proved to be a nice balance of heavy hitters and accessibility, a characteristic of the Ohio chapter events since the days of the Salt Fork conferences. A big "thank you" goes to the college for their hosting and support. Attendees left the conference with great training, new contacts, and many door prizes all the way up to computers and Access Data's FTK. Even before the conference ended, attendees asked, "Will you be here next year?" The conference committee and executive board, while happy with this year's success, were already planning on how to make next year better. Jim McIntyre provided some photos from the conference. All pictures are from the registration and break area. Presentations and labs were conducted in locations in interconnected buildings. In fact, the instructors from SEARCH expressed their appreciation in having a dedicated computer lab for all of their classes instead of having to change labs for different presentations. New Hosting Service for OHIOHTCIA.ORG On May 15, our web site switched over to a new hosting service. Although Holland Computers proved to be a reliable and supportive host right from the start, the desire for more space and advanced features made the change necessary. Our new service, Hostrocket, gives us the ability to expand the site with much needed capabilities. Starting this summer, we will roll out the upgrades. Already in the plans are member email addresses (including forwarding) and a members only area that will make files and information conveniently available to chapter members. No doubt there will be some glitches until everything gets streamlined. As always, your suggestions are appreciated. How to Contact
